Teaching is in German and leads to the Swiss Maturité, with specialisation subjects spanning Biology and Chemistry, Business and Law (taught immersively in English), Music, Physics and Applications of Mathematics, Latin and Spanish. The Matura examinations cover German as first language, a second national language (French or Romansh), mathematics and the chosen specialisation. Entry to the gymnasium is by examination, and preparatory courses are available.
Set within a working Benedictine abbey with centuries of educational tradition, the school pairs day pupils with a seven-day boarding house offering single en-suite rooms, full board, supervised study and weekend programmes. The mountain Surselva setting frames a calm, ordered community of around 150. Pastoral life draws on a long monastic ethos of structure and care.
